Glen Chase and I have been talking about encouraging giving. He makes an important point that some of us seem to miss: The church is one worthy organziation among many seeking charitiable gifts. A lot of those other organizations do a much better job of encouraging additional giving.

This is an independent organization that rates the efficiency of non-profits. Take a look at their site. Catholic World Charities (CWA) makes one of their top 10 Good Lists. They list badly run charities, too. CWA has a four star rating. In the search box at the top of the site type in "Lutheran World Relief." Yup, a four star charity -- proper use of funds, low overhead.
