Respond to Givers, Encourage Giving

Glen Chase and I have been talking about encouraging giving.  He makes an important point that some of us seem to miss:  The church is one worthy organziation among many seeking charitiable gifts.  A lot of those other organizations do a much better job of encouraging additional giving.

Helping People Evaluate Charities

This is a little blog about encouraging generosity -- I welcome others with ideas.

Do you know about Charity Navigator?  (charitynavigator.org)

This is an independent organization that rates the efficiency of non-profits.  Take a look at their site.  Catholic World Charities (CWA) makes one of their top 10 Good Lists.   They list badly run charities, too.  CWA has a four star rating.  In the search box at the top of the site type in "Lutheran World Relief."   Yup, a four star charity -- proper use of funds, low overhead.
