Email notifications

You may notice that you're getting emails whenever somebody posts something to a group you belong to. This is a helpful feature which you can control. Go to your profile and hit the "edit" tab. This setting is about half way down.

Basically the choice is whether you have email notices sent out to you or not. If not, you need to come to SC to see what's happening. With email notifications SC comes to you. But . . .

Now I have a lot of email cluttering up my inbox.  Well, here's what I do.

I use MS Outlook. Most email clients or online email services, though are similar. What they do is let you make "rules" for incoming email. Whenever SC emails me to let me know someone has posted, the subject line always has "Soul Cafe" in it.  So, I have made a "rule" in my email program that whenever an email has "Soul Cafe" in the subject line that this message is placed in a "Soul Cafe" folder, not my general inbox. So, when I open my email program I can see my regular inbox (here I have 24 unread messages indicated by the blue # 24) and I see that I have no Soul Cafe messages and no personal inbox messages. This makes my life easier, and later when I have a dozen Soul Cafe message I can just go to that folder and buzz through them.
