10 Commandments of Health
In the January/February edition of AARP, I read the following 10 Commandments of Health that was written by George W. Calver. I think they apply today as well.
1. Eat wisely
2. Drink plentifully (of water)
3. Eliminate thoroughly
4. Bathe cleanly
5. Exercise rationally
6. Accept inevitables (Don't Worry)
7. Play enthusiastically
8. Relax completely
9. Sleep sufficiently
10. Check up occasionally
ps. Give 5% of your time to keeping well. You won't have to give 100% getting over being sick.
Questions:
Where can you improve your health based on the 10 commandments above?
Can you give 5% of your time to keeping well? Just how much time is that?

10 commandments of good health
For me spending time in prayer and scripture is imperative to good health. Without grace I tend to overeat, overstress, think all things depend on me, instead of leaving it all in God's hands, and doing what He calls me to do for the day.....Peace!
10 commandments of good health
Having said that, I should add that the past year's involvement with LIGHTS at Zion has really helped Bob and I learn how to eat healthier and live better. Though I fell we learned a lot from Dr OZ and the others we have studied, for Bob and I the biggest changes came when we read EAT TO LIVE by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. His videos were interesting, inspirational...but pouring over the materials presented was finally convincing that we needed to make changes from the American diet we both grew up with. It is killing us. We are now eating only a little dairy and less meat, and much more fruits and vegetables, beans and nuts. Bob has lost 50 lbs over the past 6 months. I have lost 15. We have to exercise a bit of discipline, especially when eating out with our church friends. But we are never going hungry. Bob enjoys the fruit smoothies made with almond milk as much as his ice cream, and better knowing it is keeping him healthier. We are also exercising at the community center a few times a week, and finding the strength to do the projects at our new home ... painting the concrete block fence, building a pergola,...etc. I believe God has used the LIGHTS group to help us make positive changes that we would not have otherwise made, and we are happy to share what we have learned with all our family and friends. Good eating also boosts the immune system and helps prevent diseases. Thank you Ruth and Patty for getting us off on the right track, following our Lord's lead with LIGHTS!
Hi
HI, I have to say is excercise more. I need to be excercising way more then I do regularly. That one is a big one for me. 6 Don't worry, I try
very hard not to worry. Something I learn big this year. Was giving it to God and Letting it go. Not Thin own will but your will be done
for me in my life. Being a worry wort causes stress and I hate stress. Playing with my daughter brings me great joy. Just listening to her laugh with me
and joking around with me brings me more joy then I could ever imagine. It's the joy that God wants us to have in our daily lifes.
Eating healthly is a growing process for me. It's like learning how to cook better all over again. Those are the ones I was thinking about.
With Great Joy
