Assembly Agenda
Register here! for our 2012 Synod Assembly. Registration is required for all lay and clergy voting members and those who wish to attend plenaries, workshops, and/or participate in service projects.
We have striven to create a user-friendly online registration experience that is both simple and straightforward. Completed registrations will be confirmed through both the "confirmation" page of the process as well as an e-mail to the address under which you are registered. (If you do not see either of these, you may not be registered; please contact the synod office for assistance). Once registered, please print your confirmation/invoice for payment instructions and future reference.
Housing is not included with Assembly registration and must be arranged for separately. Please follow this link to the Sunriver Resort Oregon Synod web-page.

Synod Assembly Nominations:
Nominations for a variety of synod positions including 2013 Churchwide Assembly Voting Members are now open. Please check our out Nominations Page to find out who, when and how to make nominations. Nominations close March 11, 2012. (Nominations can be made from the floor of the Assembly while in session, but early nominations help. Thank you.)

Resolutions:
Resolutions and Memorials to be considered by the Assembly must be submitted by March 11, 2012. Resolutions may be submitted by any active member, or group, of the Oregon Synod and its congregations. Resolutions or Memorials in proper form, received by March 11, 2012, will be reviewed by the Oregon Synod Reference and Council Committee. The Committee may contact those submitting resolutions to see that they are written or presented properly. After March 11, 2012, Resolutions may or may not be accepted at the discretion of the Reference and Council Committee. Resolutions submitted late, and not pretinent to other business of the Assembly, may not be accepted.

Introducing Barbara Rossing
Profile
Barbara Rossing has taught at LSTC since 1994. She is the author of The Rapture Exposed: The Message of Hope in the Book of Revelation featured on CBS’s "Sixty Minutes" as a critique of fundamentalist "Left Behind" theology. Her other works include The Choice Between Two Cities: Whore, Bride and Empire in the Apocalypse as well as articles and book chapters on Revelation and ecology, and "Prophets, Prophetic Movements and the Voices of Women" In A People's History of Christianity, and New Proclamation commentaries for preachers.
Rossing is a frequent lecturer in ecumenical and ELCA settings. Previously Rossing served as chaplain to Harvard Divinity School, pastor and teacher at the Holden Village retreat center, and pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn. She has served on the executive committee and council of the Lutheran World Federation (2003-2010), and chaired the Lutheran World Federation's theology and studies committee
Biography
Barbara R. Rossing is professor of New Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where she has taught since 1994.
Ordained in 1982, she served as pastor of a congregation in Minnesota, director for Global Mission Interpretation for the American Lutheran Church, pastor at Holden Village Retreat Center, Chelan, Wash., and chaplain at Harvard University Divinity School.
Rossing has lectured and preached widely, including synod assemblies and global mission events for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), as well as ecumenical theological conferences. She has served on the executive committee and council of the Lutheran World Federation (2003-2010), and chaired the Lutheran World Federation's theology and studies committee.
Her publications include The Rapture Exposed: The Message of Hope in the Book of Revelation (Basic Books, 2004), a critique of fundamentalist "Left Behind" theology; The Choice Between Two Cities: Whore, Bride and Empire in the Apocalypse (Trinity Press, 1999); two volumes of the New Proclamation commentary for preachers (Fortress Press, 2000 and 2004) and articles and book chapters on the Apocalypse nd ecology.
An avid environmentalist, Rossing is involved with environmental initiatives at the seminary.
