God's Mission for the Soul Cafe Intentional Community
Led by God’s Spirit to explore and participate in the margins, uncover the questions, be present, and be bold, we are becoming a community, re-imagining and re-imaging what it means to be church for the sake of the world.
Core values/guiding principles:
- Go where you are needed
- Be where God is
- Pay attention
- Be available to ALL people
- Be open to change
The vision:
A laboratory, a playground, a test field for community formation and cultivation
- A gathering/community place in Hood River
- People coming together who may have never come together before
- Conversations taking place about spirituality and faith
- People gathering to partner in new and fresh ways
- People being accepted who did not feel accepted before
- People learning about, experiencing, and stewarding the mysteries of God
A laboratory, a playground, a test field for missional exploration
- A community that asks the question: “What is God doing, and how do we become a part of it?”
- A community that encourages others to ask this same question and walks with them as they do
- A community that is open to “aha” moments
- A community that values variety and diversity in input
- A community that experiences new found freedom through Christ and its experiences with God
A laboratory, a playground, a test field for leader cultivation
- A place/a community where it is safe to risk, to play, to experiment
- A community that is a living, learning organism
- A community that identifies, shapes, and equip stewards of the mysteries of God
- Helping leaders in ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and beyond to grow in understanding of and participate in what it means to be missional leaders in a missional church
- Encouraging, mentoring, walking with missional leaders who find themselves on the margins
